Yosemite Park is an excellent place for camping and you guessed it, white water rafting. If you have a chance to take the camper and travel, you must set out for white water rafting and Yosemite Park will be your best stop. Yosemite has been noted as having some of the most spectacular white water rafting adventures in the United States.

Take The Proper Gear

When you go white water rafting and Yosemite camping you will need to take the proper gear along so you will be prepared for not only camping but also for rafting. If you take a pop up camper, you will have everything you need as far as bedding, food and necessaries. You will also need to take the right equipment for rafting.

Now that you have decided on white water rafting and Yosemite camping, you have the camping gear, you also need the gear for rafting such as the raft, paddles and rope. You need to wear a floatation vest and some wear helmets as well. You can always you at what guides, tours guides tell you about safety gear to find out exactly what type of clothing, and safety gear is best suited for your adventures.

When you go white water rafting and Yosemite camping, always remember to go with someone, you should never go rafting alone. This would be the number one safety issue, and camping is so much fun when you have someone to have fun with while rafting and camping. You can get away, enjoy yourself and take to the open water for great adventure in white water rafting and Yosemite camping.

When you go rafting you will want a waterproof bag to put a light, flares and matches or a lighter in so if you need help, you can summon someone with flares or fire. This is probably more an issue than a need, because if you practice good safe rafting, you should not need theses things anyway.

Not everyone will enjoy white water rafting, but the majority of people will and a guided tour is always so much fun, then doing it alone or with one other person. If you ever have a chance to go rafting and crashing over the rapids, jump on it, you will regret it if you do not. Always practice safety first and then fun second.
About the Author:

About 2 hours drive from Christchurch you will find the Rangitata River. It’s located near Geraldine, a beautiful area of the South Island with some stunning landscapes and natural features on view. The river is also perfectly suited for white water rafting with a number of exhilarating rapids to go with the flat sections that are great for practicing your skills or getting a well-earned breather.

Most operators that take rafting trips on the Rangitata River take you to and from Christchurch in a shuttle. Like most white water rafting trips, it can be intense at times and without needing to be a professional athlete, it helps if you are reasonably fit. The more you put in, the more you will get out of this experience, so if flying down gushing rapids is your kind of thing, then you’re going to have a great time.

The day starts off with a shuttle picking you up from Christchurch early in the morning. From here it’s a simple but pleasant drive through the countryside on your way to the Rangitata River. Once reaching the river, you drive further up it to a lodge where you will start your day of activities.
The first thing that needs organising is your equipment. This consists of things like a wetsuit, helmet, life jacket etc. They may not be the most comfortable or fashionable but the water can be cold so you’ll definitely appreciate it. After being kitted out, you’ll be split into groups that will make up those on your raft. It’s great if you’ve got a bunch of friends to go with but if not, you’ll probably meet some new ones by the end of the day anyway.

Driving further up the river you’ll arrive at the point where you’ll be starting your journey. It’s here that you’ll get your first taste of rafting. Each raft has one instructor who sits at the back of the raft, helps you avoid rocks, cracks jokes, ensures safety and in general makes sure you have a great time. Your instructor will brief you all on the basics, which include things like paddling, lunging to one side and pulling people back into the raft if they fall out (which can and probably will happen). You get plenty of chance to practise all these things as you gently make your way down a long calm patch of the river.

After everyone in your raft is confident with the skills, it’s time to hit your first rapids! This is definitely the most exciting part and what makes people come back for more. It’s a real adrenaline rush as your raft is thrown through the rapids, you can feel the power of the water as you bump up and down and side to side with each dip and change of direction. The instructors do a great job of keeping you on the right path although you’ll have to help them out when they need it, some rapid paddling is required to get through some of the tough spots.

As you head further down the river, you’ll get to enjoy a lot more exciting rapids that really get the heart going. Sometimes they can be so intense that people fall out or rafts flip over, this isn’t uncommon and the instructors will alert you if you need to pick up someone that went overboard. The risk factor is all part of the excitement but at no stage does it fell dangerous. The strength (or grading) of the river changes throughout the year but will always give you some very challenging sections of white water.

The main part of the trip lasts for a couple of hours before the river flattens out and you get the chance to have a bit of fun with the other rafts, i.e. splashing them with your oars or throwing their instructor in the water. You may also get the chance to jump off some very high rocks or float down sections of the river out of the raft (this is when you’ll be glad you’re in a wetsuit).

After loading the rafts onto the trailers, you’ll head back up to the lodge for a well-earned barbeque. By this stage you should be exhausted, just managing to stay in the raft all day can be hard work! After some laughs and a few final words it’s time to head home. You get the opportunity to buy photos taken of your rafts, which is a nice touch, albeit a slightly expensive one.

Going down the rapids is a truly awesome experience and one that you’ll be raving about for weeks. White water rafting comes highly recommended for anyone visiting Christchurch and looking for something exciting to try.
About the Author:

River rafting in Nepal is quickly gaining popularity. With many certified rafting tour companies to choose from, Nepal’s best rapids are at your disposal, with all class types (I-VI) to fit various skill levels.

Drawing from Nepal’s mountainous terrain, there are three main river systems-the Koshi, Karnali and Gandaki. These three rivers mostly emerge from upper glaciers – glacier melt and high-altitude lakes. With an undulating raft sweeping you through steep, rugged valleys, and cloudless skies all around, river rafting in Nepal can be the highlight of any trip to Nepal.

One of the newest rafting rivers in Nepal is the Marshyandgdi. Considered one of the best white-water rafting rivers in the world, the Marshyandgdi is not for the inexperienced or faint of heart. With a top-notch guide and knowledge of what to expect, the Marshyandgdi will take you to a whole new level of rafting experience. And as you twist and turn through the rapids you could even spot the peaks of Manasulu or Annapurna off in the distance.

Not a lot of information is available about the Marshyandgdi, except that it’s fast and furious. Because it was only recently that commercial tour operators could acquire the proper permits to access the drop-off and pick-up points located around local villages, many of its rapids are not yet classified or named. After a day’s rafting journey you might want to jot down descriptions to remind you of the rapids you’ve encountered.

Another wild river of growing popularity is the Trishuli. Most tour companies and day-riders put rafts in at Baireni, a town filled with Hindu temples famous for detailed wood-carved windows and doors. At this point, the river lulls, moves slowly, and dips into the occasional sinkhole,. Farther down, the Trishuli is not so serene. With rapids easily classified as high as IV and V, you better listen to the guide, or you’ll be swimming for the nearest landfall.

The Trishuli River has a more diverse selection of flora and fauna than the Marshyandgdi. Here, the landscape is more pastoral with cultivated fields and terraced vegetable patches lining the slanted knolls and foothills. It’s more likely that you can catch glimpses of wildlife and birds here as you coast between rapids. After this bit of comfortable sightseeing, the river will then take you through gorges and more death-defying rapids after you pass the town of Charaundi. If you want to ride the biggest rapids, visit this river after the summer monsoon season, which promises faster runs, steeper drops, and whirlpools that keep your arms spinning. Though well-visited and notorious among regular rafters, the Trishuli River promises at least as much rafting variety and more photo opportunities than a river with higher classed rapids.

You could spend a year rafting in Nepal, but with some planning you’ll find just the right river in Nepal to suit your sense of adventure and your time frame.
place card holders
